Please join us for a Thursday CCC with Jennifer Grimes
Oh no. It happened again. You stare at your screen thinking, “This doesn’t look quite right. What do I do now?” If you’re like many L&D professionals, you came into the field with little (if any!) background in evidence-based visual design principles. Yet a crucial facet of creating effective online training is designing the interface the learner experiences. If the User Interface (UI) design is poor, the learning experience will be too.
In this session, you’ll learn how to quickly improve your training by using select UI design best practices essential for eLearning — and discover how they align with evidence-based learning theory. We’ll look at “before and after” UI samples to showcase the importance of simplification, consistency, and why proper spacing is so critical. You’ll learn hacks on how to easily and effectively use fonts, the most intuitive way to select color, and how to rely on your own eyes to check for successful interface design.
In this session you will learn:
- Why simplification, consistency, and proper spacing are evidence-based design decisions for impactful learning.
- How to easily and effectively use fonts and type styles.
- How to take the mystery out of HSB color selectors and use them to create rich color palettes.
- How to use quickly make learner-centric design decisions.
