President Elect & Director, ProgrammingJanet Kendall WhiteJanet is the Founder and CEO of Berkshire Group, Inc., a certified WBE, and WOSB company and an award-winning Authorized Partner with Wiley & Sons, Inc. for Everything DiSC® and The Five Behaviors™. She is a sought-after speaker locally and internationally on a variety of leadership and organization topics. Janet has a natural passion to grow, expand and explore. Grow individuals, teams, and organizations. Expand capacity, thinking, and vision. Explore possibilities for change, improvement, and influence. Janet enjoys cycling, hiking, and adventure, especially with her daughter. |
TreasurerStephanie SteirnStephanie is a senior instructional designer at Medical Mutual, where she has been for the past 18 years. She has done everything from facilitation to instructional design to launching and managing the curriculum development for our Medicare Advantage call center and the ancillary areas for the past nine years. Stephanie is incredibly proud to say that our MA call center now ranks in the top 10% in the country (She likes to say it’s all in the training). Stephanie has a Bachelor’s from Bowling Green in Sport management, so Cleveland is the right town to live in, since she’s a huge sports fan. Stephanie also has two Master’s from Cleveland State; one in Human Resources and Labor Relations and the other in Nonprofit Management. Stephanie has previously served as the President and Past President of the Cleveland Chapter of ATD, and the Director of Operations for the March of Dimes. This combination of both professional and volunteer oversight of financial responsibilities positions her to assist the CVATD as we continue to provide outstanding programming and remain fiscally strong for our members. Outside of the L&P world, Stephanie is a national fencing referee and enjoy dragon boat paddling on the Cuyahoga. She lives in Lyndhurst with her sister, Janice and their 8-pound terrier mix rescue, Elka. |
SecretaryBrad BabcockBrad Babcock paid his way through C.S.U. designing hardware stores and Sherwin Williams paint stores. Shortly after graduation, a spinal injury left his father in a wheelchair. He took over his engine repair shop in the Florida Keys. He moved back to Cleveland when his father was able to live independently and went to work doing Jaguar restoration and race car work. Brad joined MTD doing technical support, moved into training, eventually managing the Training Department. He earned an MBA from Tiffin while in this position. After a regime change, he landed at PAC Machinery. They make automated packaging equipment. There, he wrote manuals, did packaging system set-up and repair, delivered training and technical support. Currently, Brad is a Technical Trainer at STERIS. They work to help improve the safety of medical procedures with sterilization equipment. He teach technicians to maintain, repair, and calibrate the equipment. Brad has served CVATD as President, Treasurer, and perennial Secretary, going back to 2003. CVATD has given him perspective and professional fellowship in what can be an isolated field. Brad lives in Lakewood with his wife Lynn and a moody cat named Velocette. In his spare time he plays with old sports cars, old motorcycles, and old sailboats. |
Director, Campus OutreachJessica CervenakJessica Cervenak started her professional career teaching high school English for 9 years at Waterloo Local Schools where she advised the award-winning newspaper, Voice of the Vikings, and literary magazine, Viking Verse . While in education, she was a contributing author of Teaching Drama in the Classroom: A Toolbox for Teachers and Pump It Up: Literacy Activities for the Classroom. Her passion for teaching Reading led to her pursuing a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Reading Comprehension. While in graduate school, she participated in a fellowship through the American Society of Newspaper Editors at the University of Southern Florida and the National Writing Project at Kent State University. After teaching, Jessica transitioned into higher education, returning to her Alma mater Kent State University, working in several different roles over the past 13 years as an academic advisor, adjunct instructor, Assistant Director of the Academic Success Center and more recently, Training Specialist in the Division of People, Culture and Belonging. The shift to Training Specialist also prompted her to go back to school for her Human Resources Certificate. Over the past year, in her new role as a Training Specialist, she has revised the New Hire Orientation program and conducted onboarding for over 90 employees from the start of her position both virtually and in-person. In addition, she has facilitated training for Communication for Individual Contributors and designed training on Managing Your Career. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her husband and three teenage boys while watching them play baseball and basketball as well as traveling. |
Director, Marketing & CommunicationLiz WalkerLiz Walker is an experienced Instructional Designer and Senior Graphic Designer with more than 15 years of experience creating engaging, visually compelling learning experiences. She specializes in designing classroom, virtual, online, and blended training programs using proven adult learning principles. As a design consultant, Liz partners with clients and subject matter experts to craft impactful learning materials—including course content, job aids, and workbooks—and develops creative concepts for print, digital, and motion graphics. She is highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, Adobe XD) and advanced in Articulate Storyline and Rise 360, blending creativity and instructional expertise to deliver professional, effective learning solutions. |
Co-Director, MembershipTeresa Potter, M.Ed.,Teresa Potter, M.Ed., is the CEO and Principal Instructional Designer of T. Potter Instructional Design. She started her career as a classroom teacher for middle and high school language arts, and has since then spent 10+ years working in Instructional Design. She has done ID work with higher education institutions as well as in corporate roles and as a consultant. She has spent her career leading bleeding-edge educational technology projects where there are more questions than answers. Teresa is a graduate of Kent State University and the University of Akron. |
Co-Director, MembershipAllana Bowman, CPTDAllana Bowman, CPTD, is the Manager of Organizational Learning and Strategy at Pharmacy Data Management, Inc. (PDMI) and a learning and development leader with more than 13 years of experience aligning employee growth with business outcomes. She specializes in organizational learning, leadership development, coaching, competency-based learning, agile instructional design, and data-driven talent development. Allana holds the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) credential from the Association for Talent Development and a degree in Human Resources Management from the University of Akron. She serves as Co-Membership Director for the Cuyahoga Valley ATD Chapter and contributes to the ATD Chapter Recognition Committee, supporting chapter engagement and recognition. Outside of work, Allana is a proud mom of two daughters and two rescued Bernese Mountain Dogs and hopes to one day offer free coaching and consulting to support leaders and volunteers in local churches. |
Co-Director, TechnologyCindy DiLauro, CPTD, PHRCindy is the Manager of Training and Development at Crown Cork & Seal in Massillon, where she leads leadership development initiatives, oversees new-hire orientation, and manages training programs for production-floor team members. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and maintains both PHR and CPTD certifications. In addition to her corporate role, Cindy is the owner of Flying Starship LLC, an experiential leadership development company known for its immersive, simulation-based learning programs. She is passionate about connecting with and learning from fellow L&D professionals, especially through CVATD. Cindy is married to her husband, Todd, and they have two adult children and two grandsons. Their family also includes two rescue dogs, Cooper and Skippy. |
Immediate Past President & Co-Director, TechnologyAmy Salapski, BCC, BLMCAmy is the Founder and Managing Partner of Cambium Development Group, where she expertly delivers coaching, instructional design, facilitation, and talent development consulting services to individuals, groups, and organizations seeking growth. Before launching CDG, she led organizational development at Dealer Tire, managing comprehensive leadership and professional development initiatives, high-potential programs, and internal coaching strategies. Her efforts significantly enhanced talent assessment, succession planning, and employee engagement across the company. Amy lives in Reminderville, Ohio, with her husband, Mark, where they enjoy hiking, cycling, and taking their son and daughter-in-law out on their pontoon boat. |
