Dear Members,
As the warmth of spring is upon us, I am filled with joy, gratitude, and enthusiasm as I address you for the first time as President of our esteemed CVATD chapter! Just as the changing weather brings new life to the world around us, I am invigorated by the energy and dedication of our community of TD professionals. It is truly a privilege to serve alongside such remarkable individuals, and I am continually inspired by your passion for advancing yourselves and the growth of those that we serve in our roles. As we move into the second quarter of the year, I am excited to see the connections and growth we will experience together and the impact we will continue to have on our profession.
I want to take this opportunity to extend an open invitation to each and every one of you. My door is always open, and I encourage you to reach out to me for support and guidance, or simply to share your thoughts and feedback. Your input is invaluable as we strive to tailor our initiatives and events to best meet the needs of our diverse membership base. Whether you have ideas for future programming, concerns you'd like to address, or want to connect, I am here to listen and assist in any way I can.
I would also like to extend my sincerest appreciation to our immediate past president, Amy Salapski, for her exceptional leadership and innovation during her tenure. Her dedication and vision have played a pivotal role in shaping our chapter and advancing our mission. Under her guidance, we have achieved significant milestones such as more sponsorship support than ever before! Her innovative initiatives have strengthened our community and enriched the experiences of our members. Her commitment to excellence has set a high standard for leadership within our organization, and I hope that I can rise to the occasion and follow in her footsteps!
Together in learning,

Andrea Lindemann Gilliam
Andrea Lindemann Gilliam is a leadership coach, trainer, and mediator with a passion for helping individuals find purpose and peace at work. She recently relocated from Washington, D.C. to Shaker Heights, OH, where she lives with her husband, 7 year old daughter, and Tibetan Terrier.
As an employment attorney at the global law firm of Paul Hastings and subsequently at the US Department of Labor, she witnessed workplace conflict daily that created stress. Determined to find a better way, she incorporated her legal background, mediation, and coaching skills into a business providing coaching and training to individuals, teams, and organizations to teach them about conflict and help them develop new skills.
She has served as a lead mediator with the Dispute Resolution Programs Act Collaborative Civil Court Mediation Services in Orange County, CA, as a volunteer mediator with the EEOC and on the advisory board of the Conspire Women’s Peer Coaching Co-Op. She was awarded the Community Partner of the Year Award by the D.C. Employment Justice Center. She also has been a speaker/trainer for organizations such as the Louisiana State Bar Association and the National Association of Community Health Centers and has written for publications such as the American Bar Association Journal, Why You Should Unlearn Certain Valuable Legal Skills (April 2023), among others. I received a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

How long have you been an ATD member? How long have you been in the talent and development industry?
I joined CVATD in March of this year. I have been working as a coach and trainer for the past three years after over a decade in the legal industry.
With spring on the way, what is the warm-weather activity you are looking forward to the most and why?
I can’t wait to spend time walking by the lake! Water calms my soul. Since I’m new to the area, I’m also looking forward to exploring all of the activities that Cleveland and the Cuyahoga Valley have to offer.
Why did you join CVATD?
I joined CVATD to build community with other professionals who value personal and collective growth. Being new to the area, I especially value getting to know the local community and explore how I can be of service.

I've led L&D teams and departments for more than 20 years. My last role was Director of the Corporate Communications and Events department, which was part of our HR department. I was with FedEx Office for 31 years and my position was eliminated as part of a company-wide reorganization. I am actively looking for a Director of L&D role.
With spring on the way, what is the warm-weather activity you are looking forward to the most and why?
I cannot wait for warm weather, as we spend our summers on our boat and are lucky enough to have four large lakes within 45 minutes of our home. Nothing puts me in a better mood than a warm day out on the boat!
Why did you join CVATD?
I joined CVATD because it's important to me that I stay in touch and have conversations with other L&D professionals during my search. Through local networking, I've heard that CVATD is the best around and I'm happy to be a part of this network.

Andrea Jones
Andrea Jones has been working at Westfield for 29 years this July. She has been working in Information Security GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) for 10 years and before that she worked in Identity and Access Management for 19 years. In the GRC space, her main function is the Security Education and Awareness role. She is a planner by heart, and loves to collaborate with others. However, she also likes working alone brainstorming new ways to bring content to her organization and to keep the content interesting.
In GRC, she also worked on performing security reviews of vendors. She spent several years working on their policy exception process, she has handled access certifications for the organization for the past decade, and she has worked on other GRC-related tasks as needed. She has two security-related certifications, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) and CDPSE (Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer).
When she worked in Identity and Access Management, she worked on adding access, modifying access, deleting access, and a whole host of other responsibilities related to this function.
She lives and works in the Akron area.
How long have you been an ATD member? How long have you been in the talent and development industry?
I joined the ATD about a month ago. I started working in the Security Education and Awareness space February 2022.
With spring on the way, what is the warm-weather activity you are looking forward to the most and why?
I love it when we wake up on a weekend morning and my husband and I can sit outside and drink our coffee and enjoy the weather. We live in the country so it’s nice to see the trees and the flowers blooming. One of my favorite things in life is flowers. I love color, texture, and the grace flowers can bring to your life.
Why did you join CVATD?
I enjoy working in the security education and awareness space and I want to learn more and continue building our program at Westfield.
