Performance Improvement SIG: Training Ain't Performance

with Therese Longo and Michele Miner

Event Details:

When there is a performance problem, most companies jump to training, assuming that the problem lies with the performer either not knowing or refusing to do the job properly. However, training is rarely the answer by itself. That’s why Performance Improvement is so important. Performance Improvement involves achieving improved performance by:

- Linking the goals of performance to business results.

- Identifying the actual causes of a performance problem so they can be corrected or mitigated.

Join the Performance Improvement SIG as we explore how Performance Improvement can raise the training game by reading the book Training Ain’t Performance by Harold D. Stolovitch and Erica J. Keeps. The book explores the confusion that exists in workplaces today around what outstanding achievement looks like, how training relates to on-the-job performance, and how they all connect to business results.

What we will cover:

In the next session, we’ll finish discuss Chapter 5.

What is the Performance Improvement SIG?

A Special Interest Group (SIG) is a smaller group of members within the Cuyahoga Valley ATD Chapter who share a similar interest in a specific topic.  SIGs offer programming and networking opportunities centered around a particular topic.

The Performance Improvement SIG is a forum for learning and development professionals to learn how to apply performance improvement best practices, network, and find areas for collaboration.

Our meetings are the second Wednesday of the month 2:30 - 3:30, but we may adjust this time if needed based on the attendees. Please check the event email or the website for the most current information.
