Creating a Safe Space for Engagement: A Key Facilitation Skill - Lunch & Learn

with Sarah Spengler

How do you create a safe space for open engagement when working with a group or team?

Is emotional safety even possible in our VUCA environment? (VUCA= Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous)

What key challenges should you consider related to emotional safety of participants?

When working with a group or team in a learning context or in a team effectiveness context, creating a “safe space” is key.  You need your participants to be open to new ideas from others, and open to sharing their own questions, concerns and ideas.  In this session we will explore a design tool for creating a sense of safety as well as 2 activities that promote confidence and safety for engagement.

    ATD Capability Model Alignment:

This session will align with the capability model in: Building Personal Capability – Cultural Awareness and Inclusion and Emotional Intelligence in Decision Making
