Jessica Cervenak
Jessica has her undergraduate degree in Integrated Language Arts with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. She started her career as a high school English teacher where she spent the first 9 years of her professional career. She then transitioned into higher education by teaching as an adjunct professor at Kent State University. She has been at Kent for 13 years now in a few different roles such as Academic Advisor, Placement and Testing Coordinator, Assistant Director of the Academic Success Center, but recently transitioned into her current role as a Training Specialist in the Department of People, Culture and Belonging in July.
She really is enjoying being able to utilize her background in curriculum development as well as best practices for Adult Learning Theory in this new role. She is a life-long learner, which is why she is currently pursuing a HR Certificate and is excited to be a part of CVATD to network as well as continue to learn from others in the field. She lives in North Canton with her husband and three boys ages 18, 16, and 13. She enjoys reading, being outdoors and traveling in her free time.
How long have you been in the talent and development industry?
I've been in Education for 20 years, and in Training and Development since July.
What are you looking forward to in 2025?
I really enjoy this new role and look forward to continuing to learn as well as develop my skills in the field of training and development.
Why did you join CVATD?
I like to learn from others in the same field as well as network. It helps with professional growth and provides opportunities to try new skills.
How long have you been an ATD member?
I just joined CVATD this month and am not currently a member of ATD.
